Scraps [zine]

I have always felt a bit of an attachment to the detritus that accumulates around the process of making stuff — plastic lids as makeshift palettes, aprons and paint-pants, brushes and tea towels crusted with layer upon layer of acrylic paint and ink, or odd-shaped paper offcuts and crappy printed scamps reused as test sites for pencils and oil pastels. There are small collections of these scraps gathering in the corners of my studio at all times, and on finishing a painting or a drawing, I’ll often look at these little bits that formed on the peripheries and feel that they have more energy, flow and beauty than the thing I’ve spent hours, days or weeks cranking away at. I wanted to give them a proper home so I could finally let them go, so I made this zine.

Launched at the Melbourne Art Book Fair in 2025.
